This restaurant in Wiliamsburg, Brooklyn, whose menu features authentic southern french cuisine, was designed to convey the warmth and character native to the mediterranean region, while using local materials and creating a specific formal response to the very narrow existing space. Using these materials with intrinsically rustic characteristics (reclaimed wood, rough-cut slate and poured-in-place concrete) we were able to carve out a space that emphasized and clarified an ease of linear circulation. A variety of lighting schemes helped to delineate the three main zones of the restaurant, stressing simple elegance, movement, and intimacy.
