A storage attic in this one bedroom apartment in Brooklyn Heights was converted into a sleeping loft above the existing bedroom. Character, color and light were brought into the small space by exposing the richness of the wood ceilings and brick walls, creating a new stair and bookcase for the loft, and introducing a large new skylight. The use of pipe rail for the stair handrails and supports for the bookcase supports added to the overall simplicity and clarity of the material scheme.
